real life beauty tips...back to school beauty

September will be here soon, bringing fall and the cooler weather.

Now's the time to figure out what to store at the back of your beauty closet.

While we love a great self-tanner here at Beauty in Real Life, let's be realistic....unless you actually live in a location that's hot and sunny 365...let it go.

There is nothing wrong with a paler complexion, it actually goes along fabulously with the great colors on tap for fall (think berries, deep purples, etc).

If you can't bear to give up your self-tanner, at least switch to one that's a lighter shade.

One that will give your skin just a hint of color.

Better yet, choose one that let's you adjust that for yourself...like Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer ($7).

It's perfect because it moisturizes, gives you a hint of color, and you can stop before you hit lady-with-the-weird-tan-in-the-winter-even-though-she's-never-been-on-vacay stage.

Come on, you know who we're talking about.

I like the jergens because i have light skin and its great to use everyday. But when i am tanning outside i use booty butter by bikini kitchen. It gets my skin to a great golden color. I am able to get a tan in about an hour. And it uses that Kona coffee extract, which i read is really good for your skin.
