coming soon from covergirl...

Loving these new products from CoverGirl that are due to hit shelves in July.

The absolute best part is that they're all under $11. So you can try new trends and not break the bank.

So far we're loving the Exact Eyelights Eye Shadows and Eye Liners...and yes, the eye shadow does come with the cool brush too.

As for the Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush...well I'm all about a cream blush first of all, add in the Olay Regenerist Serum (that white swirly part) and I'm so there.

We haven't had a chance to truly test these out, but once we do we'll be sure to deliver the 411.

la mer the lip balm

While I tend to be a savvy shopper 95% of the time, I sometimes do get a little swayed by a good sales pitch.

After hearing that this balm was a favorite of Jennifer Garner, countless other celebs, and many a beauty editor pick, I (of course) wanted to check it out and see for myself.

I picked one up a few months ago...while getting my usual Creme de la Mer supply...and have been using it ever since.

It's definitely a winner for me.

The way that it makes my lips feel soft waaaayyyyy after it's disappeared is nothing short of cool.

It's also lasted a good long time, considering I'm still working on the same container that I bought back in early March. The fact that I relegate this item to my makeup bag helps to curb the constant application that I would be doing if it was just sitting in my beauty closet upstairs though, I must admit.

The only clunker?

It's a definite splurge at $45.

But so worth it to me.

What about you...are there any products that you just have to have even though they are a little on the splurge-y side? Leave a comment and let me know!

5 minutes, 5 questions with marla malcolm beck

We recently had the chance to interview the ultra fab Marla Malcolm Beck, the founder and CEO of bluemercury inc.

In case you aren't familiar with bluemercury, it's basically a beauty addicts dream come true...the best-of-the-best beauty products and spa services all under one roof.

It's seriously like the mother ship calling us home.

Anyway, Marla was kind enough to take time away from her busy schedule and answer a few questions for us.

Enjoy...

1. You literally have beauty addict's dream job! How many products do you sort through until you find those worthy enough to be sold on your shelves?

I probably receive at least 20 products per day to look at – if you multiply this by 250 business days this is at least 5000 products a year, if not more!

2. Okay...share...what are your top 5 cannot-do-without beauty products?

Darphin Hydraskin Serum – I put this on under my makeup primer to get a dewy, hydrated look.

Skinceuticals C and E Ferulic Serum
– this brightens and firms my skin like no other product.

Oribe Shampoo and Conditioner for Beautiful Color – the best shampoo and conditioner for my dry, highlighted hair that I have found in a long time.

Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara – doesn’t smudge and the long thin brush is perfect for lifting and separating.

Remede sweep – the most gentle but effective exfoliant out there.

Skinceuticals SPF 45 Sport – the only sunscreen I will wear on the beach.

Tan Towels on the Glow Body – a slow self-tanning product – fool proof as I am so bad at applying self-tanners.

Caudalie Cleansing Water – I use after I cleanse my face to get the rest of the makeup off and soothe my skin. (ok – sorry, more than 5, I could go on forever. )

3. We know that you're a working mom who's always on the go. What are some of your tips for getting out the door in a hurry, but still looking fabulous?

I wash my hair at night so I only wet it in the morning by dunking my head in the shower – this combined with Oribe’s Royal Blowout (which I spray on my damp hair) speeds my blow dry time tremendously. I put on a moisturizing serum first, let it soak in while I do my eye makeup, that way if the eye makeup gets on my skin, I haven’t already done my tinted moisturizer. I only do tinted moisturizer during the day – you just sort of slather it on and don’t have to worry about getting it perfect – plus it has SPF.

4. What's your favorite product for a spa experience at home?

Darphin’s new Waterlily Foaming Gel Cleanser. I keep it in my shower. It’s like you go to the spa every time you take a shower – it smells heavenly and gets all of the makeup off. Bliss Triple Oxygen Mask – I use this after a week of traveling to clear my skin of all of its grime.

5. Being you're from DC, can you give us a couple of your top spots for dining out and shopping?

For great dresses love Intermix in Georgetown, Urban Chic (in Georgetown or Bethesda). For a quick organic lunch, can’t resist the food at Sweet Greens (Georgetown or Bethesda). For the power lunch or power dinner – Bourbon Steak in Georgetown. Rumor has it Brad Pitt was there a couple of weeks ago, too! Adore Chef Geoff or CafĂ© Milano for girls lunch!

Okay...it's official....love her! Plus I totally need to try that Oribe Royal Blowout. Anything that could shave some time off of my morning routine has me at hello.

For more information on the products mentioned above, or to learn more about their spa locations and services...head on over to bluemercury.com.

urban decay's pocket rocket man hunt is on baby

In case there's a man in your life who's dying to get some "exposure"...here's his opportunity.

Urban Decay has just begun their Pocket Rocket Man Hunt!

Huh?

The folks at Urban Decay have developed an online contest to find the next two models for their two new shades of Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss – scheduled to launch in Spring 2010!

Here's how it works...

You'll nominate your boyfriend, husband, friend, (friend-with-benefits, UPS man, favorite barista, coworker, hot neighbor... whoever), via the contest website: urbandecayguys.com .

There you'll upload photos and tell them a little about your guy. Then you'll be given a link so that you can ask friends your vote. (think Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, blog, and e-mails, so that lots of people will visit the site.)

Visitors to the site will vote for their favorite guy. Then, at the end of the contest, they will choose two winners from the top 10 to be the next models on their Pocket Rockets.

The contest starts now, and goes through July 17, 2009.

But wait...there's more...

The winners (and the woman/man who nominated them!) will be flown to California where the men will be professionally styled, shot and retouched by our expert team. You'll get a flight to Cali, a hotel stay, and some fun prizes: $500 in Urban Decay Cosmetics, $200 in Urban Outfitters gift cards, and $200 in Apple gift cards. A couple of runners-up will get prizes, too.

Hmmm...I wonder if Big L is up for the challenge?

If there's a man you'd love to put up for this, head on over to urbandecayguys.com. Don't forget, he contest will end July 17th...so you better get a move on!

nordstrom anniversary sale...get your pre-order on now

With a little over 3 weeks till I'm due for delivery, I'm all for shopping online.

My ginormous pregnant self can only handle so much shopping by foot right now...so online's where it's at.

Anyway...from July 17th through August 2nd, beauty junkies nationwide will line up at their closest Nordstrom store to get the hottest exclusives, limited-edition items and beauty bargains, only available during those two weeks.

The only risk you run is this, if you wait until then your faves might not be there.

So what do you do?

Pre-sale honey...pre-sale.

Right now you can go online to nordstrom.com or stop into any Nordstrom store and pre-order and reserve your favorite beauty goodies!

Considering there's over 100 top beauty brands participating this year (think Chanel, Juicy Couture, NARS, Clarins, Kiehl’s, Laura Mercier, Marc Jacobs, Fekkai, Dior, Bobbi Brown and many more), you might want to get a move on.

Here's just a couple of offerings that are sure to have you reaching for your platinum card...

Laura Mercier Renaissance Collection($65; $167 Value)

Laura Mercier created an exclusive set featuring seven must-have items in the hottest shades of the season, all housed in a chic patent cosmetic bag.

MAC Look in a Box – Seductress ($49.50; $100 Value)

This set of five full sized products gives glamour girls everything they need to create a sultry, sexy look – minus the guess work.

Kiehl’s Crème de Corp ($70.00; 89 Value)

With this jumbo version of Kiehl’s cult-favorite all-over body moisturizer, you are sure to not run out of stock until next anniversary sale rolls around
(fyi...we go through this like water once colder weather hits).

Lancome 4 piece Brush set with indigo blue cosmetic bag
($52; 119:50 Value)

This undeniably chic brush set takes a cue from the ombre trend seen on the runway.

And like a million more items to choose from.

From what I can also gather, if you pre-order online now, Nordstrom will start shipping out your goods starting July 17th!

So make like a tree and get out of here (sorry...totally obscure Back to the Future reference) and head on over to nordstrom.com.

opi bubble bath and the look good..feel better program

I'm always looking for a new shade for my toes and tips.

Normally I just stare blankly at the wall of shades, that my local nail salon offers, and then rush to choose one when it's my turn to go.

Kind of ends up being a hit or miss situation sometimes if you catch my drift.

Luckily the uber fabulous Rachel Zoe recently Twittered some advice on her fave color for summer mani and pedis...OPI's Bubble Bath.

What's even better is when you purchase OPI’s Bubble Bath in July or August, you’ll not only be getting a perfect summery light-as-air shade, you’ll also be supporting Look Good…Feel Better, a national public service program that helps women cope with appearance-related changes from cancer treatment.

During July and August, OPI will contribute a portion of the proceeds of every bottle of Bubble Bath nail lacquer sold, with a minimum contribution of $25,000, to Look Good…Feel Better.

A great way to make yourself look great and help others in the process.

Love that.

For more info on the Look Good...Feel Better program, head on over to lookgoodfeelbetter.org. Try opi.com for more info on OPI products.

kiehl's superbly restorative argan body cleansing oil

Kiehl's has a new addition to the their Superbly Restorative Argan Preparations Collection. To aid in the support of the Targanine Women’s Cooperative in Morocco’s Atlas Mountain Region, Kiehl’s Since 1851 is pleased to introduce the Superbly Restorative Argan Body Cleansing Oil. This luxuriously rich, yet gentle formula improves skin’s suppleness and heightens the bathing experience in a multitude of ways – as a rich body cleanser, in-shower shave oil or in-bath treatment.

Kiehl’s Superbly Restorative Argan Body Cleansing Oil transforms into a milky treatment to cleanse and retexturize body skin, revealing a smoother, more healthy-looking radiance. Naturally-fragranced with oils of Sweet Orange, Patchouli, Eucalyptus, and Cedarwood, this versatile formula gently cleanses skin without stripping it of essential lipids.

We have not had a chance to check out this particular item from the Collection, but I did happen to score a brand new bottle of the Superbly Restorative Body Lotion with Argan Oil from Makeup Alley and I love it. Actually, I'm just about to run out of it. It smells great and really soaks in and moisturizes throughout the day. If the Body Cleansing Oil is anything like the lotion, it won't be long before I have it in my shower.

It retails for $27.50 and you can check it out on kiehls.com.

how to get michelle tractenberg's look at the cfda fashion awards

I've always loved Michelle Trachtenberg's unfussy-yet-glam looks at events, like this one for the CFDA Fashion Awards that took place the other night.

Celebrity makeup artist Sandy Linter for Lancome worked with Michelle Trachtenberg and she gave us the lowdown on how to she did her gorgeous eyes.

She accentuated the eyes by first applying Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Porcelaine I as a shadow base, under eye base and skin corrector giving Michelle a silky soft complexion.

Sandy then lined her eyes with Le Crayon KhĂ´l in Black Coffee giving it a smudged effect for a soft contour. To accentuate her eyes even more, Sandy applied Color Design Eyeshadow in Click for a smoky look and Bikini Golden on the inside.

She then coated Michelle’s eyelashes with Ă”scillation Vibrating Mascara to give them an extended effect and finish the look.

All products can be found online at lancome-usa.com.

reese witherspoon to launch her first fragrance with avon

The relentlessly gorgeous Reese Witherspoon has partnered with Avon for the launch of her first fragrance, In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon.

The fragrance is an invitation to experience the sensual side of a woman. Precious and exquisite, the scent combines a delicate femininity with a seductive allure and a mysterious beauty.

In developing In Bloom, I found myself drawn to the scents of my childhood in Tennessee, explains Reese Witherspoon. We had a great big Magnolia tree in the back yard, and it's that beautiful white blossom that inspired the perfume. In Bloom is indicative of where I am in my life today. I'm feeling very strong and independent, and so happy, so full of life. The fragrance truly captures that feeling—it's very sensual, very romantic and alluring.

Isabel Ryan, Director of Avon Creative Development, had this to say...

Reese was the perfect partner on the fragrance – she was fully involved in the whole process from the development of the juice and packaging to the fragrance name. I logged many miles flying between NY and LA to work with her to make sure the end result was a true reflection of Reese’s style.

The fragrance features top notes of Georgia peach, tea leaves and crisp greens. It's heart consists of star gardenia, magnolias and night-blooming jasmine. The base...cashmere woods, hypnotic florals and amber wood crystals.

Definitely something we want to check out.

The fragrance will be available globally in November in two sizes: a 1.7-oz. eau de parfum for $34, and a 1-oz. limited edition version for $59. A body mist, body lotion and shower gel also will be available for $15.

Keep checking back here for more info and be sure to log on to avon.com to find an Avon rep in your area.

physicians formula bronze booster glow-boosting pressed powder

As you know, I'm all about the faux glow. While I tend to get all kinds of lazy when it comes to applying the regular lotion self-tanners, powder bronzers for the face are something I'll reach for regularly.

What's great about this one from Physician's Formula, is it provides the sun-kissed glow of a bronzer...with a dose of little shimmer too...that will also allow you to gradually build a tan.

Just what I love, simplicity.

It contains vitamins, moisturizers, and anti-oxidants that are meant to help in the tanning process. It's also labeled as streak-free, orange-free, stain-free, and odor-free.

The powder is available in three color choices...fair/light, light/medium, and medium/dark. I'm actually testing the light/medium. I love the powder itself, it goes on easily and looks great. I'll have to let you know about the tanning part because I don't think I've been using it as consistently enough to see the results.

I'll get back to you on that.

You can find more info on this product at physiciansformula.com.

ren moroccan rose otto sugar body polish

It's that time of year when you're fixated on shedding your winter layers...literally.

Body scrubs are topping my list right now because with my arms and legs getting some more exposure, I want to keep the dreaded dry skin scales at bay.

In that regards, Ren Moroccan Rose Otto Sugar Body Polish ($60) is just a big tub o' goodness.

First off, it smells divine...a fantastically subtle rose. Not an old lady rose smell, that would be just wrong.

Then there's the combination of all natural ingredients - think olive and almond oils, as well as cane sugar - help to make your skin feel ridiculously smooth and soft once you're finished.

I use mine after I've been in the shower for a little while, then I rinse it off and towel off.

For a more intense scrubbing, they actually suggest rubbing it in while dry first and then add water to rinse it away.

Either way, you're bound to end up with softer skin then when you started. A must if you're thinking about donning a pair of shorts or even (gasp!) a bathing suit.

For more info, try renskincare.com, Blue Mercury, Barneys, Fred Segal, SpaceNK, or Sephora.

tarte multipleye natural lash enhancer and lights, camera, lashes! natural mascara set

Sold exclusively at Sephora, Tarte's multiplEYE natural lash enhancer and lights, camera, lashes! natural mascara set ($65) is something you'll want to check out.

They're pretty much free of anything that's not natural, but yet both are clinically proven to increase lash volume and lash length.

The multiplEYE natural lash enhancer contains something called a proprietary HydroPlant Peptide™, which fortifies and nourishes lashes by combining soy and amino acid proteins that also contain cellulose, a plant-derived thickening agent, and vitamin C, an antioxidant booster.

Add the lights, camera, lashes! mascara...a 4-in-1 mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, and conditions...and watch out.

We plan on checking out the set and we most definitely plan on giving the the mascara a try, because anything that conditions as it does its job is okay in our book.

Try sephora.com for more info.

giveaway with zannclip

Jenn recently reviewed the Zannclip, with a video on how to use them. Check it out here. Well, since I am in the process of growing out my hair, I am loving these little slices of heaven. And now we want to share them with you!!

Three lucky winners, will each score one Zannclip in the size and color of their choosing!

There are three different sizes and numerous colors to choose from. Head on over to zannclip.com for more info and to see what color you would like. BTW...Right now you can purchase any three items and get 20% off at checkout! Prices range from $10 to $23 depending on the size and finish you choose.

Recently, I spoke to the owner/inventor of the Zannclip and she wanted us to pass along a little more information....I'm just hoping people realize the Zannclip will not break. EVER. You just have to worry about losing it. :-) I have them manufactured right here in the US- something I am proud of. I make the ZannClip mechanism in Colorado and I do the powder coating for the color clips there as well. Actually in a car body shop (same way cars are painted) so the coating is so extremely durable! The platinum and 24K gold plating I have done on Rhode Island in a factory where they also plate fine dining flatware which is made to hold up after years of use by hotels and restaurants. I plate them 15mils which is considered "thick" plating. Needless to say, the precious metal ones will also hold up very well. Fine quality and workmanship are extremely important to me. It's all in the details. This is also why I stand behind my products 100%!!! If any of my products break, full refund - though yet to happen thank goodness :-). Not happy- full refund. Pretty much any reason- full refund. Including shipping. I aim to please and I believe in the philosophy of "the customer is always right". How is that for customer service?!

So what are you waiting for....enter!!

Details for the giveaway....as always, send us an email at beautyinreallifecontests@gmail.com with "Zannclip Giveaway" in the subject line. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address.

Alright, just to clarify...One entry per person, duplicate entries will not increase your odds of winning. For this giveaway, only US residents may enter. You have from now until June 24th at 11:00 PM EST to enter.

nars vintage nail polish collection...limited edition

Just out this month, NARS has released their Vintage Nail Polish Collection ($16 each), in honor of their 15th anniversary.

François Nars has resurrected some of the brand’s long-lost nail polishes from the archives, but only for a limited time.

I'm kinda on the safe side when it comes to color on my tips, so I'd probably go for Hunger...the fab orange-red that's second from the left.

But don't let my opinion influence you.

Here's the color names with descriptions...

Blue Lagoon (Originally launched in 2001) – Lagoon is an iridescent powder blue that feels as fresh as an ocean breeze after months of navy tips

Cha Cha Cha (Originally launched in 2001) – A semi-sheer tangerine with gold reflections, it is as sensual and vivacious as the Cuban dance it is named after

Hunger (Originally launched in 2001) – A hot orange red that offers a summer respite for classic red devotees

Tallulah (Originally launched in 1998) – A slightly moody and entirely elegant shade of rich grape, gives tips a taste of the good life

Zizi (Originally launched in 1999) – This clear with peach and gold glitter polish dazzles both on its own and atop of other polishes

All are available for a limited time at narscosmetics.com/Vintage-2009-Nail-Polish-C540_hunger-zizi-tallulah_7.aspx.

physicians formula organic wear® 100% natural origin 2-in-1 bronzer and blush

Loving this bronzer and blusher duo from Physicians Formula.

You can use each separately on their own or do the bronze thing with a pop of color.

Simple to do...just pick up the bronzer with your brush and apply to the points of your face that would naturally get kissed by the sun.

Then take the blush and apply for a pop of color to your cheeks.

They go on pretty sheer, which is perfect because all you have to do is layer more if you need to. Either way, together they deliver that naturally perfect I've-been-in-the-sun look.

It comes in four different color combos too.

My fave is the light bronzer/soft ginger combination (the soft ginger is definitely on the peach side which I adore by the way).

Plus the price won't leave your wallet empty...it's listed at $14.

Check them out at physiciansformula.com.

christine's nail color of the week....opi samoan sand

Alright...more like Christine's Nail Color of the the last 3 months, but I haven't really had my nails done much and when I have I keep forgetting to take a picture of it and for a while there I was stuck with one color that I already mentioned.

This week I got a much needed mani...our community pool opened and it has dried my cuticles out so bad it's not funny. I was deciding between 2 different colors when the lady came up to get me and I felt rushed and just put one back. The one I ended up with was OPI Samoan Sand.

Before I load the pictures, let me explain that is my pick for this week....if you aren't fair or have cool toned skin. This color would look amazing on the darker/warmer skin tones...like my mom - who coincidentally, the same day I got my mani I called her up to tell her she should try this color and not only does she already own it, but has also applied it that same day...weird. But my mom is a medium/medium tan on the bare escentuals scale, so she is quite a bit darker than me and is also perfect for the warmer colors. It's definitely a neutral color, but is more peach than pink, as you can see. I put up 2 different pics since I took them in different light. The second one doesn't look as bad, but the color is truer to the first one.

I promise to be better with this segment and get back into the routine of dong my nails on a regular basis!

beauty buys under $10 - styli-style 24 hour power nano liner

Super compact and easy to use...not to mention long-lasting...the Styli-Style 24-Hour Power Nano Liner ($6.50) delivers on it's promise.

It lasts throughout the day, until you take it off at night.

No joke.

It's fine-tipped-kinda-magic-markeresque end allows you to draw a thin or thicker line in seconds.

The size of the product though is what I love best. You can easily slip it into your bag...true...but the best part is how it's compact size enables you to get thisclose to your eye.

Something the longer pencils don't allow.

Plus anything in mini form always gets me.

The only thing I should note, is that it dries pretty quickly...meaning if you want a smudgy line do it right away or forget about it.

It comes in black, black-brown, carbon black, and grey. I tested the black, but the subtly-pretty grey is calling my name.

Check them out at stylistyle.com.

dove visibly smooth anti-perspirant/deodorant and the piticure

I swear that I must talk about deodorant a lot on this blog.

My armpits in regards to deodorant in general. I guess that here there is no such thing as TMI.

Anyway, I've been trying out one of Dove's newest scents for their Visibly Smooth anti-perspirant/deodorant.

As far as it's ability to kick any sweatyness and/or stinkyness it definitely does it's job. Plus the new scent I'm testing....wild rose...really smells great without being overpowering.

On the visibly smooth end, for someone who has to shave their underarms each day...yeah...it's a curse...I've found that the hairs aren't as abundant and I wasn't even getting that much when I shaved in the shower.

Not too bad.

Something that I need to mention...it’s time for you to get your underarms summer-ready with a Piticure!

What the heck is a Piticure?

Read on...

A PitiCure is to your underarms as a pedicure is to your feet. The PitiCure is a simple three-step process that cleanses and helps to minimize the look and feel of underarm hair over time developed by Dove.

Here's the steps...

Step 1: Use gentle exfoliating scrub or wipes to cleanse underarms helping to draw out impurities - Impurities in the underarm area can cause unwanted underarm irritation (e.g., folliculitis/ingrown hair); exfoliation and cleansing will help to relieve this
Step 2: Rinse off and gently dry underarms with towel
Step 3: Apply Dove Visibly Smooth anti-perspirant/deodorant

For best results, repeat this body treatment as needed and apply Dove Visibly Smooth anti-perspirant/deodorant as part of your daily beauty routine.

And...just in case you're wondering...yes...you can actually go somewhere and have this done.

Dove has created the PitiCure Spa Pavilion to prettify women’s pits across the country. The PitiCure Spa Pavilion is taking to the road during the month of June and is open to the public. The Pavilion will be visiting the following cities.

WHEN: June 10 – 14, 2009

Being that there are no cities by us that are doing this, you must let us know if you end up doing this and give us the details in the comments.

I'm begging you.

nutri system challenge....week 2

It's been a little over 2 weeks now since I started the Nutri-System challenge....and I'll admit it's still been a little rough for me. I have lost about a pound since last week. Better than nothing I suppose.

I'm pretty particular about my food, and if I don't like it I'm not going to eat it. I have been doing really well with my breakfasts. If I opt to not eat one of the prepared meals, I have a bowl of Special K with some fruit on it and a glass of milk or a hard boiled egg (for protein). The basic idea of the plan is make sure you have enough protein (protein keeps the munchies away). Thank the heavens coffee isn't counted and you can have it...in moderation of course. Same goes for tea and diet soda. I don't do diet soda so I have been having my morning cup of coffee and then for the rest of the day I make a huge pitcher of Crystal Light flavored water. I can't do straight water all day but I'm loving all the new flavors they have out now and I find myself drinking those 8 glasses a day.

The lunches haven't been to bad, if it's a pasta meal I will add some cheese as my one dairy/protein for the meal. Same goes for the dinner. The pasta dishes have all been better than I thought they would be. And the Asian inspired meals aren't too shabby as well.

It seems like my biggest downfall has been making sure I get enough veggies every day. The serving size is much bigger than I ever thought; so I have been making a lot of salads to make sure I get enough.

Check back next week for the Week 3 update. Hopefully I will have lost another pound or two!

max factor + jake bailey = mtv movie awards red carpet trend report

I meant to get this out sooner...but definitely better late than never!

We have for you the uber fabulous MAX Factor Celebrity Makeup Artist Jake Bailey with his MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet Trend Report.

Read on lovlies...

At the MTV Movie Awards, people were making bold but simple choices with their makeup looks.

There were two standout looks I saw walk the carpet:

· A smokey, dramatic eye against a glowing, clean complexion paired with a nude lip for an effortless look.

· Quite a few girls were rockin’ a bright lip, some with a classic inspiration and others edgy and fun – I loved it!

Stars including Leighton Meester, Hayden Panettiere, Miley Cyrus and Anna Farris all looked beautiful with a smokey eye and nude lip. For a variation on the classic smokey eye, try doing the look with color for a summery, modern twist
:

* A lighter green shade paired with aubergine is a beautiful combination while navy blue brings a hint of color to the traditional smokey eye look
* Choosing a shade with a little shimmer helps to keep it from getting too dark
* Always top off any smokey eye with two coats of dark black mascara – my go-to is MAX Factor’s 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper.

This season, bright bold lips are a great look that anyone can wear and we saw it all over the MTV red carpet on Cameron Diaz, Ashley Greene, Lauren Conrad and the look I created for Lo Bosworth!

* A simple eye and flawless skin is always a great pairing with a bold lip color – sometimes all you need is a really great lip!
* Stick with light and bright shades for the season to keep the look fresh – my favorites from MAX Factor’s Vivid Impact Lipcolor line are Sweet Tart, Rose Rage and Ms. Terious.

We created a simple but bold look with lots of lashes paired with a bright, bold lip color for Lo. Here’s how to get her full look:

* Blend MAX Factor ColorGenius Foundation with Minerals in Honey 1 all over face, on eye lids and below jaw line
* Top with Bronze Universel de Chanel for warmth and dimension
* Swipe Chanel Eye Shadow in Slate on eye lids
* Liner lower lashes with MAX Factor MAXeye Liner in Gilt Complex
* Apply two coats MAX Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper in Extreme Blackout
* Finish with MAX Factor Vivid Impact Lipcolor in Sweet Tart

Love her makeup look. It's definitely for night, but could easily be translated into a gorgeous daytime look as well.

For more info on MAX Factor products, please head on over to maxfactor.com.

look we love...leighton meester at mtv movie awards

Totally loved Leighton Meester's look at the MTV Movie Awards last night. She always looks spot-on and yesterday was no exception.

Here's the 411 on her red carpet beauty look from CoverGirl makeup artist Molly R. Stern...

Leighton’s look was sexy with an edgy feel. She wanted to look like herself while celebrating the rock ’n roll spirit of the night.

I started by basing her skin with Cle de Peau's New Cream Foundation in O20. For her blush I used Shiseido's Accentuating Powder Blush in Glistening Brown.

On her eyes, I based them with Vincent Longo's Liquid Eyeshadow in Midnight Mauve. Over that, on the inside lid into the crease, I dusted NARS Night Clubbing Glittery Powder Eyeshadow.

Inside her eye both bottom and top, I lined her eyes with CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Brightening Liner in Vibrant Pearl (NEW from CoverGirl, hitting shelves in late July!!). Her mascara is CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe in Black Emerald.

And to finish the look, she is wearing CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Cinnamon Smile.
